Social programme

The Conference will be held at the Croatian Academy of Arts and Sciences (Nikola Šubića Zrinski Square – Trg Nikole Šubića Zrinskog 11) and Matica hrvatska (Strossmayer Square – Strossmayerov trg 4) in Zagreb, from Wednesday, October 12 to Saturday, October 15, 2016.

 

Wednesday, October 12

The grand opening of the Conference will take place in the afternoon, in the Illyrian Hall of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb’s Upper Town (Opatička 18). The opening program will be followed by two keynote lectures:

Croatian Children´s Culture Abroad: “Croatian Tales of Long Ago” in an American College Classroom (Prof. Jennifer Miskec, Longwood University, USA)

and

„Priče iz davnine“ i hrvatska moderna: o mitskom secesionizmu, folklornim šarama, neoromantizmu i antimodernizmu (Croatian Tales of Long Ago and Croatian modernism: on mythical Secession, folklore ornaments, neo-romanticism and anti-modernism) (Dubravka Zima, PhD, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, Croatia).

 

Thursday, October 13

 

Guided tour of Zagreb (starts at 17:30)

 

Friday, October 14

The evening is reserved for a banquet for all Conference participants. The banquet will take place at the restaurant Kaptolska klet  (Kaptol 5). All banquet-related expenses will be covered from the Conference fees.

 

Saturday, October 15

Conference participants are invited for a trip to the city of Ogulin and a visit to Ivana’s House of Fairy Tales.
